 1.Handicrafts

Zhangjiajie is home to three ethnic minority groups – the Tujias, the Miaos and the Bais who have lived here for hundreds and thousands of years and are good at making numerous handicrafts that were passed on to them through the generations. Minority handicrafts include finely woven baskets with black line patterns, intricately embroidered insoles and so on.

Tujia Pasting Picture is a wonderful and unique work of art  made in Zhangjiajie. The artists use the roots, branches, and barks of trees, plus stones and grasses to create these characteristic pictures. Tujia Brocade is another attractive handicraft. It was said to be the royal tribute during the Qin (221 BC - 206 BC) and Han (206BC - 220) dynasties. It is a combination of weaving and embroidery with deep flavor of folk tradition. Guiwen (tortoise veins) Stone Carving is a local handicraft  and its raw material is produced in Tianzi Mountain Nature Reserve. Guiwen (tortoise veins) Stones are the fossil of ancient life forms, and the craftsmen often use them to create stone carvings in different shapes such as tortoises, cattle, or horses, which are precious collections.
